Jose : Man United star still play LVG method
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has urged the media and supporters to give Anthony Martial more time to adapt to his style and grow as a player.
Martial became the world’s most expensive teenager last summer when Louis van Gaal signed the Frenchman for a £55 million fee and after a great first season he is now struggling
The forward scored 17 goals in all competitions to finish at Man United’s top scorer in an underwhelming attacking season for the club, but he’s in and out of the team under Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese coach has now urged for patience as Martial continues to adapt to Man United and Mourinho.
.First of all, the way the team played last season was very different – I’m not saying better or worse, just different,” Mourinho said, via the club’s official website.
“Probably Anthony was feeling more comfortable playing that way, at that intensity, at that rhythm of the ball – possession and ball circulation. So he probably needs some time.” Mourinho also pointed out that there is plenty of competition for the attacking roles in his team, with several players hungry to impress.
We have Mkhitaryan, Lingard, Depay, Mata, Rashford and Martial – these are the positions where we have more options. You have one opportunity, maybe two or three. If you don’t bite, somebody comes and takes the meat
