Conte named manager of the month
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has won the Premier League manager of the month award.
The Italian has beaten fellow nominees Jurgen Klopp, Mark Hughes, and Arsene Wenger to the prize after guiding the Blues to four straight victories during October Chelsea haven’t even conceded a goal in the top flight since the former Juventus boss changed their formation to a 3-4-3 system.
It hasn’t just been a defensive masterclass either, with 11 goals flying in for Conte and co. in their four fixtures against Hull City, Leicester City, Manchester United, and Southampton.
The only disappointment came as they crashed out of the EFL Cup to West Ham, but that result isn’t considered in the Premier League award.
This switch came after the Londoners lost to Arsenal and Liverpool in September, putting their hopes of the title in the balance before October saw such a turnaround.
November looks like it could be a similarly successful month for Chelsea, after they defeated Everton 5-0 in the first game of the month.
They go on to face Middlesbrough and Tottenham in the next two weeks, with their London rivals the next big test of their title credentials.
