United star : l have proven myself

Henrikh Mkhitaryan believes that he has shown in the last few weeks he belongs to be a regular in the Manchester United first team but is always ready to help the side even as a substitute.

Mkhitaryan has only recently returned to the starting XI at Old Trafford with the Armenian playing well in recent contests against the likes of West Ham and Everton.

The 27-year-old moved to United in the summer but an injury and some less than impressive initial showings had kept Mkhitaryan out of the team earlier in the campaign.

However Mkhitaryan now feels that recent performances show he is deserving of his role in the team and he is determined to prove he is worthy of hanging on to his position.

The former Borussia Dortmund man is also thankful to Jose Mourinho for giving him a chance to impress him again.

Mkhitaryan told the club’s official website: “I started playing so I’m positive. I think positively and I am glad to have more playing time for the future because it’s something that is not predictable.

“You have to be ready for every situation. I was ready and I showed I am a top-level player. It doesn’t matter if I am going to play or not, I am always ready to help the team.

“I don’t want to talk about that because it’s in the past already. But we have spoken a lot; first, when I came here and he told me what I have to improve. I think he saw I improved in that time and he gave me the next chance to play again.

“It was difficult to watch the games without me but I have proved that I can play with the main squad. Now I can repeat it and I can prove it again.”
